Don’t Worry Be Happy shirts helps keep cancer warrior, Crystal Hofmann optimistic!

My name is Crystal Hofmann and I got your contact information from a friend of mine, Ashleigh Walters. She gave me a DWBH tank top, and I absolutely love it! I want to purchase even more of your apparel. I am 29 years old and have stage 2, Her-2 positive breast cancer. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy, and have continued to keep up my optimistic attitude despite it all! I have attached a picture of myself, in my DWBH tank top and wig if you would like to share it on your blog.

Speaking of blogs, I started one of my own at Feel free to share it with anybody who may be interested in hearing my story. Also, let me know if you have any questions!

Crystal is our NEW DWBHshirts Breast Cancer warrior!   She will be under our Fundraising page soon!  Read Crystal’s story!

I am 29 years old and I have stage 2 HER2+ breast cancer. I found a lump in my breast that I brushed off as a cyst because it grew so fast that’s what everybody, even my OBGYN, had said it probably was. I found a cluster of cysts in the same breast in 2008, so when I went to my mammogram appointment I was expecting the same result. However, during the mammogram blood came out of my nipple. I asked the technician “is that bad?” and her response was “well, it’s not good.” I found out the next day that I have cancer, and started chemotherapy 5 days later. I am considered stage 2 because it is also in a few surrounding lymph nodes. Every 21 days I will receive 6 cycles of two types of chemotherapy plus Herceptin, which is a drug made specifically for my type of breast cancer. I will be getting a double mastectomy a few weeks after my last treatment, then continuing Herceptin for 12 more rounds. My prognosis is good on this treatment plan. I have faith that I will be able to return to my job as a high school English teacher by the start of the 2011-2012 school year with a fresh, new perspective. I have a new-found appreciation for turning 30 this summer, and every birthday that I am blessed to spend with my husband and 2 daughters thereafter.
